Fire is a natural part of forest regeneration. In its absence, dead trees remain standing or snagged among the healthy ones, the ground becomes densely packed with dead wood that has fallen, and the understory grows unchecked. The net result is ideal conditions for the spread of wildfire. Fuel reduction in areas in and around your property helps take away combustible materials that allow fire to spread along the ground and up into the trees, ultimately slowing the spread of fire.

Specialized Land Management (SLM) is a division of Old Growth Tree Service focused primarily on Forestry, Fire Mitigation, and Land Management. Over the last four years, SLM has completed more than 5000 acres of fuel reductions and habitat enhancement. Our team uses specialized forestry equipment and a hand crew to complete work in the most challenging areas, including steep, mountainous terrain and environmentally sensitive areas. Fire mitigation work in and around structures is completed by Old Growth Tree Service. Larger projects that require more resources are tackled by SLM.
